Anda sering melihat siput di sekitar tempat tinggal kita kan? Apalagi pada musim penghujan seperti sekarang ini. Bekicot sebagai saudaranya siput termasuk Phylum Molluska yang memang sering kita jumpai keluyuran di sekitar kebun atau pekarangan rumah kita. Demikian juga dengan siput telanjang ini. Akan tetapi sering kali orang salah kaprah menyebutnya dengan pacet. Padahal kalau diperhatikan berbeda loh!
Antara pacet dan golongan siput sebenarnya perbedaan jelas sekali. Pacet adalah invertebrate dari golongan hewan cacing gelang yang memiliki racun anti pembeku darah atau hirudin. Sedangkan siput termasuk phylum Molluska yang berjalan dengan perutnya ( Gastropoda ) dan umumnya memiliki antena dengan bintik mata pada ujung antena sebagai pembeda keadaan gelap atau terang. Mungkin karena bentuk siput ini yang ramping dan tanpa rumah itulah yang menyebabkan orang salah menyebut. Coba anda perhatikan baik-baik pada gambar-gambar di samping. Jelas hewan ini berjalan dengan perutnya – mempunyai antena, meskipun tidak dilengkapi dengan rumah pelindung. Pacet umumnya di daerah semak-semak tanaman di pegunungan, seperti kebun teh, kebun tanaman budi daya yang rimbun terutama di pegununga dan dataran tinggi atau hutan. Anda dapat membandingkan dengan Pacet yang terdapat pada gamabr berikut :

Nah, sekarang anda mengertikan, bahwa yang sering kita jumpai di sekitar kita itu adalah golongan siput yang tidak memiliki rumah pelindung atau cangkok, sehingga enak disebut sebagai SIPUT TELANJANG.
Beberapa dasawarsa yang lalu bekicot pernah dijadikan bahan tepung untuk membuat makanan ternak. Nah, kalau dibanding dengan bekicot, siput telanjang ini mengandung protein jauh lebih banyak pada berat yang sama, karena tanpa cangkang atau rumah pelindung yang sebenarnya tersusun dari zat kapur atau kalsium karbonat. Siput ini memiliki daya regenerasi dan reproduksi yang juga sama cepatnya dengan saudaranya yaitu bekicot. Bila dibudidayakan bukan tidak mungkin siput ini Oleh karena itu tentunya akan lebih mudah dimanfaatkan untuk mensuplai protein hewani bagi ternak, mungkin juga bagi manusia yen ora jijik lho!

Prokaryotes are the most numerous and pervasive organisms on Earth. The evolution of prokaryotic life changed the Earth, and prokaryotes continue to have a major impact on all other forms of life. The success of prokaryotes is based on diverse adaptations of form and function, including all types of nutrition. There are two main kinds of prokaryotes: bacteria and archaea. Molecular systematics is leading to more detailed understanding of the relationships and roles of these important organisms.

Classification of Prokaryotes
Prokaryotic organisms are sometimes classified into two Domains instead of a single Kingdom (Monera). Domains are taxonomic groupings larger than a kingdom. There are approximately 12 subgroups within Domain Bacteria, five of which are shown here; Domain Archaea contains 3 major subgroups. We are almost ready to start making new DNA strands, but the enzyme that makes DNA can only add to a growing strand, not start one. What enzyme is needed to get a strand started? Primase. Right. An enzyme called primase joins RNA nucleotides to make a short stretch of RNA called a primer. The primer serves as a starting point for making new DNA.
Now we are ready to make some DNA. Which enzyme does this? DNA Polymerase. Starting at RNA primers, DNA polymerase joins DNA nucleotides to form new DNA strands along the old ones. Note that DNA polymerase can only move along a template strand in the 3' to 5' direction, making new DNA 5' to 3'. This means that along one template strand
, DNA polymerase can work toward the widening replication fork, but along the other strand it must work in the opposite direction, making the new DNA in short segments.
What now joins the short segments of new DNA to form continuous strands? Ligase. First a different DNA polymerase replaces the RNA primers with DNA. Then an enzyme called DNA ligase joins the short segments of DNA to complete the new DNA strands.
